Motorola Extends its M2M Modules Portfolio with a New Series of Ultra Compact LGA GSM/GPRS Wireless Modules
The new series of modules is designed to meet the unique needs of the growing Machine-to-Machine (M2M) market
Tel Aviv, Israel - Feb. 9, 2009 - Motorola, Inc. (NYSE: MOT) today introduced the G30 GSM/GPRS LGA series of wireless modules, the latest addition to its Machine-to-Machine (M2M) solutions portfolio. The new land grid array (LGA) module platform is ultra compact and highly reliable, designed with the rigorous demands of the M2M market in mind.
The G30’s compact form factor, robustness and set of features make it an ideal choice for the automated metering industry, as well as other M2M segments including telematics, security and electronic point of sale (EPOS).
“The G30 is consistent with Motorola’s tradition as a wireless leader providing superior products that fulfill market requirements,” said Shamai Wasserman, vice president Motorola Israel, strategy & business development, & director of Motorola Wireless Modules Business Unit. “This latest addition further strengthens Motorola’s commitment to the M2M market, serving its customers with the latest technological advancements to help them design cost effective and reliable solutions.”
The G30 GSM/GPRS LGA modules feature compact dimensions of 32.2 x 20.8 x 3.4mm, making it ideal for small host devices. In addition, its surface mount technology (SMT) eliminates the need of board-to-board connectors or RF cables, which makes it cost effective for integrators.
The G30 supports the 3GPP 7.05, 7.07 and 7.10 protocols and an additional set of Motorola proprietary commands including an internal TCP/IP stack. It also offers a programmable M2M application processor and FOTA (firmware over the air) capabilities for maximized flexibility.
Motorola’s culture of quality is reflected in the G30, which is designed for Digital Six Sigma quality levels. Harsh layout rules and accelerated life tests are part of Motorola’s relentless efforts to ensure the best outcome that will allow integrators the peace of mind they need when rolling out the product.
Motorola’s full portfolio of M2M Modules supporting multiple technologies including GSM/GPRS/EDGE, HSPA, CDMA1X, iDEN®, Wi-Fi and WiMAX will be on display in the Motorola booth (Hall 8, Booth #8A159) at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain February 16-19, 2009.
