Clearwire to sign cooperation pacts with two Taiwan WiMAX licensees
US-based WiMAX operator Clearwire is expected to sign cooperation pacts with two Taiwan WiMAX licensees, Vastar Cable TV System and Global Mobile, according to market sources in Taiwan. Details of the respective cooperation agreements are not yet available.
Clearwire is willing to provide the Taiwan WiMAX licensees with its expertise and technology for operating WiMAX networks, the Chinese-language Economic Daily News (EDN) quoted Barry West, president and chief architect of Clearwire, as saying.
During a visit to the headquarters of Vastar Cable TV System in Taichung, central Taiwan, West said that Clearwire is also interested in introducing Vastar's interactive program, Vee TV, into the US market, according to EDN.
However, industry watchers here pointed out that Clearwire is most likely to sign agreements for roaming across through the WiMAX networks of Clearwire and the local operators.
