Taiwan market: Initial iPhone 3G sales fall slightly short of target; CHT to continue pushing sales

Chunghwa Telecom (CHT) will continue to push sales of the iPhone 3G in the Taiwan market although initial sales fell slightly short of its target, according to company sources.

Sales of the iPhone 3Gs remained relatively strong in the first quarter, and total unit sales by the end of March were close to the company's target of 50,000 units, the sources noted.

The business cycle for the iPhone 3G will be longer than other handset and CHT plans to launch a new wave of promotion campaigns to increase sales, the sources noted.
