China-based handset software developer Borqs raises new funds
China-based Android-platform applications developer Borqs International Hodling, which has a close relationship with China Mobile, recently finished raising additional capital of US$17.4 million from venture capital firms Norwest Venture Partners (NVP), GSR Ventures and Keytone Ventures, according to a company statement.
The success was mainly due to good prospects for Android-platform mobile applications and China Mobile's self-developed handset operating system Open Mobile System (OMS), observed market sources in Taiwan.
Taiwan-based handset maker Inventec Appliances is currently cooperating with Borqs to develop Android-powered handsets, according to a previous Digitimes report.
