Taiwan DMS provider USI aims to ship over 600,000 WiMAX devices in 2009

Taiwan DMS provider Universal Scientific Industrial (USI) is making efforts to tap emerging markets in the Middle East, Latin America, Eastern Europe, Asia and Russia for its WiMAX devices and expects to ship more than 600,000 units, including data cards, customer premise equipment (CPE) and micro-modules, in 2009, according to the company.

USI has posted consolidated revenues of NT$4.21 billion (US$127.71 million) for June 2009, an increase of 5% on month, but a drop of 25% on year. Consolidated revenues for the first half reached NT$22.66 billion, a drop of 35% on year.

The company expects its monthly sales in the second half to gradually recover as WiMAX device shipments start to pick up.
