VTsIOM: why Russians Internet?

All-Russia Public Opinion Research Center (VTsIOM) presented data on how many Russians use the Internet, as they often do, why they need access to the network, as well as some Internet services to communicate the most in demand by our fellow citizens.

Daily Internet users every year becomes more and more. As before, the user of the Internet is about one in three Rossiyanin (32%), but compared to the year 2006 three times increase in the proportion of those who seek to network on a daily basis (from 5 to 15%, respectively). 8% use the Internet several times a week, 6% - several times a month, finally, 3% - at least once a year. Over the past year has not changed the proportion of those who do not appeal to the network (69%).

Daily Internet user - this is usually a resident of the North-West district (27%), Moscow and St. Petersburg and major cities (22-25%), male (17%), aged from 18 to 24 years (36 %), highly educated and financially secured (28 and 22% respectively), as well as the student (47%). Do not apply the same to the network, mostly residents of the Volga and Ural (75 and 72% respectively), the villagers (81%), women (71%), elderly (97%), poorly educated (97%) and low-income respondents (84% ), as well as pensioners and unskilled workers (97 and 95% respectively).

Internet users tend to turn to the network in order to obtain the necessary information and expanding horizons (41%), as well as for communication (38%). In 23% of the internet is for work, 14% with him watching the news, weather, and have fun and spend leisure time, 12% use it for study, 9% - for correspondence. Less to the network address to make purchases online and in order to "kill time" (2 and 1% respectively).

Young people 18-24 years old often uses the Internet to communicate (46%), school (27%) and leisure (19%). Older respondents were mainly appeal to a global network with the purpose of obtaining information (80%), in order to keep abreast of all developments (20%), for the sake of earnings (30%) or "kill time" (10%).

The most popular among Internet users of such services for communication, like e-mail and social networks - they use 79 and 76% respectively. Slightly less demand for instant messaging (53%), forums (49%) and chat rooms (43%). Less of our fellow citizens who use the Internet, apply to operators of IP-telephony and blogs (33 and 28% respectively).
