Bluetooth SIG adopted the basic specifications for the new Bluetooth standard version 4.0
Organization Bluetooth SIG (Special Interest Group) announced the adoption of energy-efficient Bluetooth technology (Bluetooth low energy technology), which is the basis for a new generation of standard Bluetooth Core Specification Version 4.0. As an extension of Bluetooth standard, energy-saving Bluetooth technology, the words of the organization, opens up entirely new markets for devices requiring a small price and low power consumption with a wireless connection, Bluetooth, which is currently available for many devices and applications - an impossible goal. Many markets, such as health, sports and fitness, security and home entertainment will be expanded wireless Bluetooth devices and sensors, able to work from flat, round battery.
The main features of energy-efficient Bluetooth technology are:
• Ultra low power consumption in idle mode, as well as during normal and maximum load
• Ability to work devices with this technology within a year of flat, round battery.
• Low cost
• Compatible with all manufacturers
• Extended Range
This extension will allow the specifications to implement two types of devices: dual-mode and single mode, where the first type of devices can be integrated into the existing classic Bluetooth controllers. As a result, most existing devices can receive additional functional with a small increment in price and substantially reducing power consumption.
Same single-mode devices can take advantage of new technology - ranging from miniature sizes and finishing with low cost and power consumption.
Technical information:
• Data - supported by a very short data packets (min. 8 octets and 27 octets - max.) That can be transmitted at speeds up to 1 Mbit / sec.
• Frequency hopping - uses adaptive frequency hopping, used in all versions of Bluetooth technology, minimizing interference from other technologies in the 2.4 GHz ISM frequency band.
• Control Host (Host Control) - the main functions of the energy-saving technologies available on the controller, which allows the device to most of the time in sleep mode and awaken him only in those moments when you need to perform some action. This provides a substantial increase in energy savings, since it is assumed that the device consumes significantly more energy than the controller.
• Latency - support for installation and data for 3 ms.
• Range - Increase in the modulation factor can increase the range of interaction between Bluetooth devices more than 100 meters.
• Reliability - the use of powerful 24-bit cyclic redundancy check (CRC) for all packages, providing maximum resistance to interference.
• High security - Full AES-128 encryption using CCM mode provides strong encryption and authentication of data packets.
• Topology - use 32-bit address access to each packet for each slave device, allowing you to connect up to a billion devices. The technology is optimized for the compounds of one to one and one-to-many, using the topology of the "star". Applying a fast connection and disconnection, the data can be moved on Wednesday with a cellular topology without any difficulty maintaining a single infrastructure network.
