Taiwan market: Global Mobile launches commercial WiMAX services
Global Mobile has officially launched its WiMAX services in Hsinchu City, northern Taiwan, targeting users in the Hsinchu Science Park (HSP).
The WiMAX operator will expand its service to cover parts of Taipei City in first-quarter 2010, starting from the Neihu Technology Park.
The carrier is currently offering dongles and IADs (integrated access devices) to users as CPE and will also include WiMAX-enabled notebooks soon, said company chairperson Rosemary Ho.
Global Mobile also plans to inject an additional NT$3 billion (US$92.6 million) for WiMAX infrastructure roll-outs in the next three years.
