Asus PadFone mini set to launch with 4.3-inch screen and 7-inch tablet dock next week
Asus has sent out invites for a launch event in Taiwan on 11 December which should see its PadFone mini revealed. It falls on a date that fits with Asus CEO, Jerry Shen’s confirmation back in September of a PadFone mini arriving for Christmas.
The PadFone mini should be a smaller version of the PadFone Infinity. It is expected to come in at 4.3-inches as a smartphone which will dock into a 7-inch tablet. This will give Asus the usual two sizes manufacturers go for with a 7-inch option available to compliment the current 10-inch PadFone Infinity with 5-inch phone. Of course Asus does have the FonePad 7 at 7-inches, but that's just a tablet with 3G connectivity.
According to the GCF listing the device will only support 3G. Although this may have changed as it seems hard to believe anything would come out as a flagship level gadget without 4G.
Any other details are scarce including a release date and price, though with an announcement this late in the year we’d expect a release in time for Christmas.
